Not just tiling

With rooms getting closer to finishing we have also been working on skirtings architraves and doors.  We have a production line of door painting going on as well as tiling.

Today we grouted the 2 bedrooms and the lounge as well as some window architraves

Tiling part 3

So another day and more tiling continues but we have now tiled the entire house except for the bathroom. Note the lights on in the lounge and dining areas.

its not just house building

In between this house building we continue to move on with garden works. We have planted the water tank and septic area and just need some mulch to finish off.  I have decided to turn the main house run off into a waterfall. It was a good way to get rid of all the tile off cuts.   We have also started out own miniature banana farm.

We have light

We have worked out that with all the walls painted we can turn on the lights, so the electrician is back to connect all the  light circuits to the power box and test the lights and fans. All work fine and I have even installed the deck fans so evenings can now be spent watching sunset from the main deck

Floor Tiling

Today is our first day of tiling, like all of the house building tasks it has been quite some time since I last tiled. But just like riding a bike it comes back quickly. We have spent a lot of time trying to work out which line to take but here we go and once we start there is no turning back.

It is a big day with sore backs, bruised knees , glue not quite everywhere but a lot achieved.

The first room is done and more

Well we have finally finished the first room, well a couple of touch ups but all done, Yippee!

We seem to have spent weeks now undercoating and painting architraves and skirtings so we decided to treat ourselves and paint the lounge and kitchen so we could get to see some results.

So with colours selected we are off painting. Tina is doing the walls in the main bedroom and I am doing the doors and skirts.

All in all a great result but another weekend to go before we can truly say we have finished our first room

architraves and skirtings

So now we have fitted the ceiling fans to the rooms, well minus the blades, we not point getting does dusty already as we all know how much fun they are to clean.

We have started the long task of cutting all the architraves and skirting, here are some fit tests prior to commencement of painting.

Master bedroom

Well now that I am fully recovered it is all hands back on deck. We have spent some time deciding on Architraves, skirtings and final wall colours, which is not always a simple process. Several sample pots later we have selected, Solver “Intermezzo” for the walls and “Moccacino” for the architraves, skirtings and doors.

We have decided not to start with the bathroom, but tackle some more simple rooms first. So first stop is the main bedroom and that is one of the last remnants of the containers remain. We are going to use the original timber floor in the bedroom so we have to sand and varnish it.
